The world is slowly suffocating and the dark atmosphere of death slowly thickens as mankind continues his blatant annihilation of planet earth! This gloomy possibility weighs heavily on the mind of NATE STONE, a young college student from Tennessee who is suddenly seeing the world differently due to personal tragedy. The death of his Grandpa Jake, Nate’s mentor and guardian, prompts him to accept a summer position with the Kootenai National Forest and to venture out to the wilds of Montana. There, Nate hopes to discover his role in saving planet earth from ultimate destruction and to search for answers to life itself—personal challenges left for him by his grandfather.
But Montana proves to be as wild as its reputation as Nate soon finds trouble with modern day outlaws as well as Montana’s version of Croce’s Bad Leroy Brown—Jeremiah Johnson, a.k.a. ‘Big Block.’ Extreme environmental activists lead by Hoot also keep Nate and the local rangers on high alert for acts of eco-terrorism as he unexpectedly finds himself enveloped by a 175 year old murder mystery that occurred in the Tobacco Valley in the early 1800s—a murder mystery that involved a young Ksanka maiden named Little Deer and two powerful brothers that fought for her love.
After a many sleepless nights, personal injury, and heartache, Nate, with a little help from his friends and the spirit of Little Deer, is able to piece together the clues and finally bring closure to the mystery that had plagued the Ksanka people for nearly two centuries. In return for his assistance in solving her murder, Little Deer’s spirit assists Nate in his personal struggle with the environmental movement. As the summer comes to a close Nate realizes his position in the crusade to save earth from its most dangerous inhabitant—man. When desperate words from Tennessee call Nate home, Nate learns that his grandmother has been keeping a secret that not only holds the key to his true identity—but also his destiny!
